April 24th already! wowzer! The time has flown since the last post!
We failed to mention , on top of diving into the farming scene, we are also juggling working with the family and their business Lambert Floral. A spring garden plant and veggie green house/nursery. So needless to say we are uber busy with the ongoings at the green house. Hence forth the lack of posts as of late!  A long winded apology for those of you who actually are reading/ following our blog.
For anyone in the salt lake area the green house is open, we are located at 3910 south and redwood road, we have a massive variety of cold weather veggie starts for sale and a ton of peppers , tomatoes , squash and cucumber starts just to name a few that with some tender care and protection will be ready to plant by may which is not far away!!  We grow all of our veggies by seed in house making our plants the most healthy in the salt lake valley! ( check out the facebook page for more info Lambert Floral)
Moving on to the shuffle of spring in full swing. We find our selves on the cusp of should have seen that coming or should have done that last year so that we would not be where we are today.. Ill explain. In hind site, having let the planter sit all winter at the corn field has now resulted in some unwanted mechanical issues, delaying our gamble crop of sweet corn from being planted by 10 days now. I am currently trouble shooting how to fix said issues and awaiting an owners manual i found on line. Also the weeds have seemed to grown over night .. everywhere. We just had yet another cold snap, rain and sleet included night time temps dropping to 37! We are not in the clear of frosts yet here in the valley. Keep an eye out for the weather, rule of thumb in Salt Lake is not to plant your more delicate starts/ plants until mothers day weekend!
Kim has planted numerous cabbage, broccoli, bok choy, and collard variets a few days ago in our drip irrigated portion of the garden! Projects on the horizon include, building a few more grow boxes for leafy greens, planting a wind row of corn to protect tomatos and peppers, weed management, weed management, and more weed management! Fix the seeder on the tractor, plant our first of 4 crops of corn, check on the bees , and somewhere in there sleep, eat , and breath!

Thanks for tuning in again with us, keeping you posted from high desert produce , salt lake city utah.
